Thanks for sharing, I agree with most everything you said. The book is amazing, as is the first one. One thing I disagree with you those is this:

You said "So the book is modeling some version of the Christian walk, but not deeply. I’d say this book is more about the adventure than about teaching the Christian walk."

If I remember right, AP did say somewhere that this was meant to be a story, and not a Bible lesson. However, I think part of the point (whether AP meant for it to be or not) is that the adventure is the walk, and always more so than we realize. And also that often times the walk is more of an adventure than we're brave enough to realize... but that doesn't mean it's any less of an adventure. It's part of why stories like this touch us so deeply, we experience the walk in a light we were meant to experience it in... from a point of view that we rarely take advantage of.

There was so much in this book that challenged me in who I am and how I see things. It reached into some of the damaged parts of who I am, and challenged me to do let those wounds heal in a more proper way. Or at lease remove the bandages the world offers.

Anyway, again thanks for the review. Hopefully we'll all have the next book in our hands soon.

Praise God for the life that engulfs us!!!

Excellent review, Phyllis. I like that you brought out that the Wingfeathers' family bonds were tested.

Book two really is a bit darker, but I found it refreshingly so in the sense that serious issues are dealt with and the humor takes its proper place.
